CBD is a compound of the hemp plant. After CBD is extracted from the plant, it can be infused into different products. CBD can be infused into products like tinctures, lotions, and oils. CBD oil is one such product where you infuse CBD into an oil (mostly MCT, olive, or coconut oil). CBD has been proven to reduce anxiety, pain, and inflammation. Reports show that its anti-oxidant properties and anti-inflammatory properties help treat problems ranging from acne to depression.

Many people believe that everything that comes from cannabis is psychotropic. But this misconception was broken when CBD, which was said to have the same effect, did not get anyone high. Along with CBD, another cannabinoid that rose to fame is THC (tetrahydro cannabidiol). THC is known for its psychoactive properties. In simpler words, THC is the compound in cannabis that gets the user stoned.

The fear that CBD, like THC, has euphoric properties did not completely vanish until the law approved the compound and made it legal inside the country.

Why Do Some People Think CBD Causes High?

Even though CBD is not psychoactive, few will still not try it. The main reason for this is because of the source of these compounds. Both THC and CBD can be derived from cannabis plants. However, different cannabis strains have different concentrations of organic compounds like THC and CBD. This means that while marijuana has more THC and less CBD, hemp (another plant from the cannabis family) has more CBD and less THC. So, if you smoke hemp instead of marijuana, the chances of you getting high are less.

But, that does not mean that hemp is safe. So, the court decided that CBD and its products can be made from hemp that has less than 0.3 percent of THC. This is the concentration of THC, which has been considered safe by scientists and the legal system.

There are a few cases where CBD has been reported to make people sedated which is actually due to its overdose. However, this is not the user getting stoned.  Therefore, we can conclude that as far as the CBD is derived from industrial hemp, it will not get the user stoned. CBD extracted from industrial standard hemp is believed to be completely safe for the user.
